SITE PREPARATION: The site should be well-drained. All vegetation should be removed and any tree or bush stumps uprooted. The site must be cleared of any cellulosic material e.g. wood, cardboard, etc. Any termite mounds must be removed completely and where possible the soil be replaced and compacted. When this is not possible, they must be leveled to the ground. Care should be taken to ensure that such leveled areas are fully treated.
- APPLICATION:
- Soilguard soil termiticide must be stirred and then diluted by adding 2 parts of SOILGUARD to 150 parts of water. This will give a white emulsion containing 0.1% w/w cypermethrin. The emulsion must be mixed gently to avoid foaming. Prepare only sufficient quantities for immediate needs.
- For small scale work, a watering can fitted with a spray or nozzle can be used. For large areas, a pump delivering 45-90 liters per minute at low pressure is suitable.
- A treatment rate of 5 liters per square meter should be applied to the leveled soil and hardcore before the slab is laid.
- After the floor slab has been constructed, a 30-cm wide and deep trench should be created around the outside of the foundation.
- Spray the base of the trench at the rate of 6 liters per meter run, and add a further 6 liters per meter run to the soil as it is replaced in the trench. It is advisable to cover this perimeter of poisoned soil with concrete slabs or with a good layer of gravel.
